Susan Rooney-Harding

The Story Catchers
Adelaide, Australia
Susan Rooney-Harding is the Director and founder of The Story Catchers and is a creative qualitative data specialist and multimedia producer. Her inquisitive and intuitive nature is central to her ability to capture meaningful stories for a greater purpose.
Susan works with Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) specialists and uses a variety of evidence-based methodologies in the story collection and to unpack the stories; the findings are then used to produce a traditional written report. This report and media previously collected are then used to create a short visual evidence based documentary report (approx. 8-10min) that accompanies the written report - this brings an often-unread document to life.
Susan has many years experience in teaching Participatory Media and has equipped multiple communities and individuals with the skills to create digital content for multiplatform use.
Susan has created visual reports, story content and presented workshops for a variety of organisations such as Indigenous Lands Corporation, Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure, Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, SA Museum, Libraries South Australia, Connecting up Australia, Australian Science Communicators, University of South Australia and South Australian Murray Darling Basin Natural Resource Management Board to name a few.
Prior to this role she was the ABC Open Producer for the River Murray Areas in South Australia.
Content that Susan has created with communities has been seen on News 24, Landline, ABC Online, ABC Open, ABC Rural and the 730 Report.
Her work has been featured in exhibitions in the Sydney Museum, Adelaide Festival Centre, Northern Rivers National Portrait Prize at the Lismore Regional Gallery and Murray Bridge Regional Art Gallery, South Australian Living Artists (SALA).
